CASTRO VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL REUNION
MEGA REUNION - CLASS OF ‘58, ‘59, ‘60, ‘61 & ‘62
“TO SIR, WITH LOVE” and “HELLO MARYLOU” (That’s You!):
The CVHS Reunion Committee is getting more and more
jazzed about our upcoming 1958-1962 Castro Valley High School Class
Reunion! (That’s “SO FINE” - 5 years of CVHS ALUMS!)
Like Michael J. Fox, we are going “Back to the
Future!”
We have an amazing Reunion Weekend planned for you on
September 3 - 4, 2004. Because so many are coming from distances, we’re
planning more activities - so you can meet, reconnect or just hang-out
together
ALIGN="center">You count! You’re a CVHS alum and always will be! Come
join us to celebrate our past and share the present and future. “CHANCES
ARE” attending this reunion will be good for you and add life to our
Reunion.
If you haven’t already responded, do it now. (A Response
form is enclosed.) Please call other classmates and invite them to come
along.
Honestly, we just need you to join in making this 2004 CVHS Reunion the best ever.
Reunion Committees “STAND BY ME”
46 Committee
Chairpersons are working hard to get everything ready. And they need some
help. Can you join or lend some of your time or talent? (As they say in
Cabo San Lucas, “Many hands make the load light.”
We are enclosing a list of the Committee Chairs, with
contact information. Please make that call and get involved any where
you’d like to assist (regardless of what you did in high school or what
you’re doing now, there’s a place for you on this team.) You will
have fun . . . I guarantee it!

To See Entire Missing Classmates List |
Some of the ways for you to help:
Data Coordinators for Class of ‘58, ‘59, ‘60, ‘61 and
‘62 “SEARCHIN”
- These dedicated Spartans needs help locating
missing classmates and making changes in the name, address, telephone and
e-mail of classmates. Enclosed is “Missing Classmates” list which was
published in the CV Forum newspaper and will be posted on our CVHS
website. Please review missing classmates from all years and help us
find a few more classmates.
Please, get on our new CVHS classmate e-mail list
by e-mailing our E-mail Coordinator at
fastlerners@cox.net.
Teacher Data Coordinator (Can Mr. Graves’ still
swing his baton?)
We need information you have to locate CVHS teachers
(God Bless them all) to invite to the Reunion. Please consider sponsoring
a teacher as a guests.
CVHS Website Coordinator
“LOVE POTION #9"
This
alum will provide information and updates on the Reunion, at our website
at WWW.CVReunions.com. If you have news to share, contact our website
Coordinator.
Big Screen Video/Movie Shows
“THE NIGHT HAS A
THOUSAND EYES”
Gordon Schaeffer ‘60 is editing a movie/video for showing
on a Big Screen at the Reunion. Please share (lend) your movies and
memorabilia of CVHS events to Gordon for the show. Please contact
Gordon.
Hospitality House Coordinators (Help, I need a
place to stay!)
Call these fine people if you need a place to
stay, or if you can “bunk” some visiting classmates in your home. Got
Milk? Got Extra room? Then - Why not host a classmate for a day or two?
San Ramon Marriott Hotel, San Ramon Party Coordinator
“IT’S MY PARTY!”
These party people want to arrange a party at the hotel
immediately following the football game at CVHS. Sounds good to me, so why
not give them a call?
Marriott Hotel Cheap Rooms at the “HEARTBREAK
HOTEL”
We negotiated a block of rooms at the Marriott San Ramon for
Friday and Saturday nights at $69.00 per night. You can’t beat the price,
but the block is limited. Who knows, even Elvis may show up? Get moving -
you’ve got to reserve NOW! Contact Marriott at (800) 228-9290 or
on-line @ Marriott.com. IMPORTANT: mention you are with CVHS Reunion to
get the special rate AND confirm the rate when you make your reservation.
Reunion Sponsors “I GET AROUND”
If you want to
advertise your business or publish a greeting and help cover the CVHS
Reunion overhead expenses, please contact Sponsors Chair for a space in
the Program of Events or the CVHS Reunion Booklet.
Reunion Booklet “MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS”
This is a BIG job for the Reunion Committee. We want to publish a
professional quality book like our last 1959-60 Class Reunion Booklet (84
pages) with: classmate portrait photos; candid photos of all the reunion
events; names, addresses, telephones and e-mails for each classmate. Your
booklet will be mailed to you after the Reunion. But, you need to order
your book NOW so we can plan our book budget. The more Booklets
ordered, the more pages we can include.
Class Gifts to CVHS “SUGARTIME”
Each class ‘58
to ‘62 has a representative and is making a separate Class Gift of
donations received from classmates to CVHS for the new Athletic Facilities
and for the new Performing Arts Center. Please contribute generously
for the Facility of your choice or for both Facilities. Your donations
are tax deductible and you’ll receive a receipt from CVUSD.
When we were at CVHS, there was plenty of money to do
everything right. Since Proposition 13, CVHS has the same challenge as
other public high schools - Little or No Money to improve the school, so
we need “MONEY HONEY”.
CVHS Athletic Facilities
Today, we have splintered
bleachers at the football field and an uneven playing field (not easy to
beat Hayward High running through potholes). The CVHS Boosters Club and CV
Sports Foundation has donated money to maintain the CVHS sports programs;
but they can’t keep up with all the athletic facilities needed. “ONLY YOU”
can pitch in and help CVHS start building bleachers and an all-weather
track and field.
CVHS Performing Arts Center
The school has
always needed a Performing Arts Center. It’s now partnering with the CV
Community to build a Center, for use by CVHS students and the community.
CVHS supporters have raised some of the funds needed, but we alums can do
our part to help.
“CHANCES ARE” you’re coming to the Reunion if you’re
still reading. Send in your Response form today. You won’t want to miss this incredible Reunion and say
“AIN’T THAT ASHAME!” I wasn’t there.
